January 5, 20205, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

We have been traveling for years and never used a hop-on, hop-off bus. That’s what tourists do. We are not tourists; we are travelers! However, the conditions this time were just right. The day before, we had boarded the Sapphire Princess for our Antarctic adventure. It seemed like an easy way to escape the bustling port, especially since we only had four hours. At 80,000 pesos (about $73 for both of us), it was roughly the cost of a taxi ride to the city.
The weather was perfect. We’ve found Buenos Aires to have some of the most comfortable, mild, and dry weather we’ve experienced in South America. We settled upstairs for what we thought would be an immersive cultural experience—spoiler alert: we never hopped off! The entire circuit lasted approximately three hours and covered every culturally significant site. The detailed commentary from our headphones, paired with a well-curated selection of Argentinian music, made it truly memorable.
Our perspective on the hop-on, hop-off experience is forever changed. In fact, it may become the first thing we do when visiting large cities. It’s an affordable and convenient way to explore and identify places we’d like to visit in more depth. We used Buenos Aires Bus and highly recommend them.
