March 11, 2025. Front Royal, Virginia.
Today, we played the beautifully matured Shenandoah Valley Golf Club in Front Royal, Virginia. Privately owned and operated since 1966, the club offers two courses: the Old Course, named for its long-standing history, and the newer Titus Course. Nestled in the small rural community of Front Royal—just an hour west of Washington, D.C., and easily accessible via I-66—the club provides a scenic and convenient golfing experience.
The course was in excellent shape, the staff was exceptionally friendly, and the breathtaking views of the Shenandoah Mountains surrounding us made for a perfect golfing day.
We played the Old Course, which is most notable for its lack of fairway bunkers and water hazards. This design made for a rewarding round, as the wide fairways were forgiving of our not-so-straight drives. Barbara debuted her new Callaway Reva clubs, and she absolutely loved them.
While the scores don’t fully capture how much fun we had, for those keeping track—despite my better gross score—Barbara’s net score of 68 (factoring in her handicap) bested my net score of 70. She took the win!
We had an absolute blast and look forward to returning to take on the more challenging Titus Course. A huge thanks to the friendly staff, who went out of their way to welcome us and help us get off the first tee smoothly.
