Transform Your Game: My PXG Golf Club Fitting Experience

April 10, 2025. Fairfax, Virginia.

I’ve avoided a golf club fitting for years, almost as much as I’d avoid a root canal appointment or knee surgery. You know you need it, but…the pain! I finally pulled the trigger and booked a two-hour whole bag fitting with PXG Fairfax, VA. I knew I had to start there since PXG takes personal club fitting very seriously and rarely sells clubs online or off the rack without fitting the individual golfer.

As the time for my fitting approached, I admit I was nervous. There would be someone there analyzing every shot I made, and there’s no place to hide from the TrackMan, a data-generating monster ready to spit out numbers that, when interpreted, say, “You need some swing lessons, dude.”

I got out of the car, took my golf bag in with me for comfort, and headed inside. As you walk into the store, you enter PXG world—everything is PXG branded black and white. It didn’t smell like a dentist’s office, so I started to feel more at ease. A young lady (Sophia) came out from behind the desk, welcomed me, and took my bag into the fitting bay. She promptly returned with a bottle of water while Dash the friendly and engaging front desk attendant checked me in. Most fittings are free, but this more comprehensive whole bag fitting was $25—well worth the price.

While waiting for my appointment Sophia guided me through the store pointing out item on sale. A few minutes later, Kyle Bollman, Master Fitter, greeted me with a welcoming and encouraging smile and handshake. As he took me to the hitting bay, Kyle explained the entire fitting process and allowed me to warm up while he measured my old clubs. I never knew there was such a thing as a Master Fitter, but after spending two hours with Kyle, I can testify that he is indeed a master of his craft. Kyle was very professional and accommodating, making continuous adjustments to the clubheads and shafts until we found the perfect fit for the irons. We then moved on to woods, and he was equally engaged with the results of every shot, every tweak made to the club, making very slight adjustments that began to yield excellent shots. At the end, Kyle prepared a written quote for every club he recommended and provided me with all the options, such as finish and grips.

I feel like I waited too long and endured a lot of pain on the golf course before deciding to get properly fit for clubs. I kept waiting for my golf swing to be perfect before getting fitted. I was amazed at how many adjustments PXG can make to their clubs to improve my shots. Kyle said there are so many factors—club length, shaft flex, shaft construction, head construction and weight adjustments, lie angle adjustments—that there’s always something that can be done to improve anyone’s game. He also mentioned PXG’s commitment to customer satisfaction providing club adjustment free of charge for the life of ownership.  If your swing does improve, and it probably will with these clubs, PXG will make adjustments to continue to provide you with the most accurate and long shots possible.

I left PXG Fairfax encouraged and happy. PXG offered discounts for multiple club purchase and their “PXG For Heroes” program provides sizable discounts to Military Veterans, First Responders, Law Enforcement, Teachers and Nurses.  I will soon be making the decision of whether to invest in a set of PXG clubs and hope you will continue to visit the blog to see the improvement in my scorecards. My thanks to the entire staff of PXG Fairfax; they are true professionals who made golf club fitting a very rewarding experience.
