The Joy of Easter: Worship and Nature in Northern Virginia

April 20, 2025. Fairfax, Virginia.

Easter in Fairfax, Virginia, was a time of reflection and family coming together. We spent the day picnicking at Prince William National Park. This National Park, which we often visit when in the Northern Virginia area, offers great trails and leisure environments. On Sunday, we worshipped and rejoiced in the hope of our Savior, Jesus Christ, rising from the dead and giving us, and Christians around the world, the hope of eternal life.  Burke Community Church is always welcoming. From the staff at the parking lot, the greeters at the doors, and the brothers and sisters happily serving coffee at the lobby, it is like coming back to a home church.

The great preacher of the American Christian movement of the ’60s and ’70s said, “The resurrection of Christ changed the midnight of bereavement into a sunrise of reunion; it changed the midnight of disappointment into a sunrise of joy; it changed the midnight of fear to a sunrise of peace.” It is indeed a day of hope for us who believe that the resurrection of Jesus Christ brings forgiveness of sin and reconciliation with God. We worship a living God, a God who willingly laid His life down for us.

I hope today, whether the hope of Christ is new in your life or you once had it and strayed away from it, that you reconnect with our living God and that in this connection, you will find hope and life—eternal life.
