Four Itchy Feet

April 30, 2025. Saint Augustine, Florida.

Finding the Royal Saint Augustine Golf Course on GolfNow for just $22 felt like a real steal! We recalled enjoying the course a few years back, so we were optimistic. Upon checking in, we learned that our round would begin on the 10th hole, and that a few greens, including number 6, were undergoing maintenance and had temporary placements.

While any day on the golf course is a treat, the conditions at Royal Saint Augustine were certainly unexpected. The back nine fairways were generally fine, but the greens presented a unique challenge, leading us to adopt a casual two-putt approach. Moving to the front nine, the green conditions were even more varied, with a few holes, including the closed number 6, requiring us to putt on marked areas in the fairway. There was also some ongoing work with equipment on the property.

Despite these unusual circumstances, the staff truly shone. From the pro shop to the restaurant, everyone was welcoming, friendly, and eager to ensure we had a pleasant experience. The golf carts were also in excellent condition. Royal Saint Augustine clearly has potential, and we hope they can quickly address the current maintenance needs. We look forward to returning in the future to experience the course at its best.
