May 23, 2025. Port Washington, Wisconsin. Day 2 of 170
We drove from Ohio, through Indiana and Illinois, arriving in Port Washington, Wisconsin, late in the afternoon. Port Washington is a peaceful town on the shores of Lake Michigan. Originally founded as a village in 1848 and later incorporated as a city in 1882, this historic fishing village is located along the shores of Lake Michigan, 25 miles north of downtown Milwaukee. Despite its proximity to Milwaukee, Port Washington offers a quiet and peaceful environment that feels like a step back in time. Port Washington’s population of 12,855 resides within seven square miles, with four miles of waterfront.
After our arrival, we decided on a short walk around Rotary Park and the Marina to get acquainted with the area. The temperature hovered in the mid-50s, and we couldn’t believe how quiet it was for a Friday night. We spent the rest of our evening checking into our lovely and traditional Airbnb and gathering groceries for the next few days. We are looking forward to exploring all that Port Washington has to offer.
