A Memorable Airbnb Experience in Port Washington, WI

May 26, 2025. Port Washington, Wisconsin. Day 5 of 170.

We’re saying goodbye to Wisconsin today as we drive west to spend the next couple of days in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We had a great time in Port Washington, and the highlight was our Airbnb. Located close to the lake, it offered great walks around both the lake and the town.

Dave Hall, our host, was very accommodating, even inviting us over for a Memorial Day cookout with his family. Dave is a most interesting individual; he shared his life experiences with us as a missionary in Eastern Europe, a theology scholar, and an accomplished musician. Upon our departure, he sent us away with a hug and gifted us a CD containing his music. We are looking forward to enjoying it for years to come. Dave has walked the Camino de Santiago several times and in the process of writing a book about his experience, we are looking forward to reading it and using his experience when we take on the pilgrimage ourselves.

Dave also shared the history of the Airbnb, explaining that it was a former dentist’s office built partly in 1865 and partly in 1900. He has done a superb job making it a wonderfully comfortable place to stay.
