June 10, 2025. Crowsnest Pass, Alberta. Day 20 of 170
Today, we entered Canada through the Roosville Port of Entry. We then drove north to the serene city of Fernie, British Columbia. Fernie is located in southeast British Columbia, Canada, completely surrounded by the Canadian Rocky Mountains. We strolled around town and had a wonderful lunch at The Brick House Bar and Grill. Afterward, we continued on to our final destination for the day: Crowsnest Pass, Alberta.
The drive to Crowsnest Pass is an attraction in itself, winding through large mountains on either side. Our visibility was somewhat hindered by smoke from fires hundreds of miles to our northwest. We are praying for a change in weather that will help extinguish these very early season fires and provide us with better views of this wonderful place.
After settling into our Airbnb, it was time for a hike. We decided on something easy: the Star Creek Falls Loop. This 1.8-mile loop through thick young pines provided excellent views of the creek, the waterfall, and the distant Crowsnest Mountain. With only 417 feet of climbing, it wasn’t too difficult and was a great way to stretch our legs after our long car ride.
Crowsnest Pass is a small town with many attractions, hikes, and is a gateway to Waterton Lakes National Park, which we intend to make the highlight of this stop. Stay tuned for more of our Canadian adventures!
