August 5, 2025. Seattle, Washington. Day 75 of 170
I thought yesterday was my last day of golf in Seattle, but when Barbara said she needed time to do some shopping, I decided to play one last round on my own. I chose Foster Golf Links, which is close to our Airbnb and the airport. I wasn’t expecting much—a par 68 course with a length of only 4,804 yards—but I was pleasantly surprised.
What the course lacked in distance, it more than made up for in character. It has some of the most beautiful trees I have seen, and certainly the most majestic weeping willows. Although the course is short, shot placement is a must, and using a driver is bound to get you in trouble. I had a very respectable score of 86 with six pars and a birdie on number 18.
I was paired with Steve, who was a joy to play with. Steve had great knowledge of the course and was willing to share it at every tee box. He is a retired captain of commercial fish processing ships and had great stories about his visits to South Korea, Japan, and the East in general. It was a true joy to share the round with him.
Golf in Washington state has not disappointed us. Foster Golf Links is in excellent condition, with greens that are fast and true, giving you the ability to make long and sloping putts. The course and the adjoining restaurant and bar are busy. There are leagues a few times a week, and the practice facilities are top-notch. If you are flying in or out of Seattle, a round at Foster Golf Links must be on your agenda.
